Stepping up, Standing out

one stone different colorIf you really want to be successful, you need to know what makes your product or service different or better.

This is a simple exercise that will get down to the root of what you do and why you do it.

Ready?

  • Start with the reason you do your business.
  • Take that reason and ask “why?”
  • Take that reason and ask “why?”
  • Take that reason and ask “why?”
  • Take that reason and ask “why?”

By the fourth time you have asked that reason, you will boil down what you do to the bare minimum.  You will have a clear answer for your business.

Keep in mind when you are answering the ‘why’s’ think about it from your customer’s perspective.  Why would they want what you have?  Why should they buy from you?  If you are saying, “I” then you need to start over!

Get this concept down, you will be miles ahead of your competition and success won’t be far behind.

So, make it happen: pull out a piece of paper and write your reason, then ask why four more times!
