Teens make the best entrepreneurs

(Transcript from the above video) Today we are going to talk about what it means to be an entrepreneur and why teens make great entrepreneurs.

Hi, I’m Josh with Teen Business Central Dot COM.  Teens CAN do business and we can help YOU do business BETTER.

Let’s start with the word “entrepreneur.”  To be truthful, I can’t spell for the life of me.  Really, you have no idea.

But you don’t want to misspell the word if you want people to take you seriously.

It may be silly, but let’s try to break it down so it is a little easier to spell.  The key is to remember there are all e’s in the word except at the end.   Entre, like you order an entree at the restaurant, then PRENE and end it with the fact that YOU ARE – U-R.

Put it together and we have En-trE-prEnE- UR

So, now you can spell it, what does it mean?

It is kind of fun to see where words come from, the word entrepreneur originally comes from a French word meaning ‘to do something.’  That is simple enough, right?

When it was officially used in English, they tied the word to business and added risk.  That is why they say ‘risky business.’  It came to mean someone who takes risks and starts a business.

Business is risky because you don’t know if you will make a profit when when you get started, but that should not scare teens.  You have plenty of time to work all out.

Teens can be the best entrepreneurs for a lot of reasons:

  • Teens are NOT afraid of risks.
  • Teens are full of ideas and act quickly on them
  • Teens have time to mess up and start again.  After all, failure is a big part of success.

Economists are saying that because of our unsteady economy the best jobs for teens are the ones they create for themselves.  Economists are the professionals who talk about money so they should know what they are talking about.

Yes, you heard me right.  Even the experts are saying that teens should start their own business.  As a matter of fact, if you don’t believe me, there is a link below about teens who are already millionaires.  They took action on their dreams.

So what we learned today is that we are teen entrepreneurs, we are not afraid to take risks and start our own business.
