Why use email?

I know Facebook and Myspace have messaging, but can it replace email? Teens use social media for all kinds of things, but even the best twitter has its limitations.

Here are some thoughts about email:

1. Businesses, schools, universities, etc. . . all have emails.

2. Not everyone you need to communicate with has Facebook or Myspace, but most have email.

3. It allows for back and forth communication (from one person to another) but also allows you to send that communication to more than one person.

4. Email is the first contact for many jobs and businesses.

5. Many times you can keep a back up copy in case someone says something you really did not say.

6. People can answer email whenever they want. They may answer it at 6 o’clock in the morning while you are still sleeping.

7. You can attach documents like a resume or a business plan. I even know some teachers who allow students to email their papers.

8. Email works for longer info. If you need to say more than a few words, it is easier to read via email than it is on a phone.

I am not trying to convert you, but as you get ‘older’ you will need to have this handy tool called email.

I would love to hear what you think. Do you use email?
Can you think of any other reasons a teen may want to use email?

He is 21, so that is close enough to a teen to be on this page!
